News Analysis
The fourth paragraph of a report “Advani seeks Sonia’s apology” (April 14, 2009) was “Nehru invited an RSS contingent to participate in the Republic Day parade after the 1965 war, he [Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leader L.K. Advani] pointed out.” Jawaharlal Nehru passed away on May 27, 1964. The reference has to be to the 1962 Indo-China war. Jawaharlal Nehru invited a Sangh contingent to take part in the Republic Day parade of January 26, 1963. A promo on page 1 (April 14, 2009) was “Sachin in Tussaud – page 22”. The article, “Tendulkar stunned at his wax likeness”, did not appear in some editions and is being published in these editions today. (The name of the place is Madame Tussauds, and not Tussaud. Madame Tussaud was the French founder of Madame Tussaud’s waxworks.) Mr. Kannan, cashier, Sri Sri Raghavendra Swamy Brindavan Trust, Nanganallur, Chennai, says that M.R. Raghavendran who died in an accident was a managing trustee of the Trust, and not a seer. He was incorrectly identified as “seer” in the heading and text of a report “Raghavendra Math seer dies in accident” (Tamil Nadu, April 14, 2009). The second paragraph of “In search of a role” (Editorial, April 11, 2009) was “Inevitably, a body whose members account for 70 per cent of a global military expenditure of $1,473 trillion constitutes a powerful lobby.” The figure is “$1,473 billion”.
