English and computer

It is surprising to see a political party that is against the use of English and computers. The Samajwadi Party clearly lacks the vision to transform India into a modern state. After attracting criticism from all the parties for its stand, the SP is attempting damage control, saying it is only against the substitution of human labour by computers and making English compulsory. When the thrust is increasingly on people adapting themselves to English and using computers to ensure transparency and swift governance, the SP’s explanation is hardly convincing.

The basic purpose of a language is communication. The bigger the number of people who understand a language, the better it would be for those who know it. I feel there should be at least one common language that can be spoken and understood across the world. It will contribute greatly towards global unity. English would be the most suited for this. Having a common language does not mean that the other languages are not important. In fact, according to experts, one understands a language better when it can be compared to another known language.
