Power shutdown in Thorekadanahalli affects pumping from the Cauvery Bangalore: Water supply in the city is likely to be affected on Monday as pumping of water from all the four stages of the Cauvery stopped for almost three hours after an hour’s power shutdown in the main reservoir on Sunday. Though the power shutdown was for one hour because of problems in the Central grid, it took almost three hours for the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to restore pumping. “This is likely to affect the supply all over the city, especially in areas where the supply is in the morning,” a top BWSSB official told The Hindu on Sunday. Promising that citizens would not be put to hardship, he said the board planned to reduce the supply in some areas by 30 minutes to one hour to ensure equal distribution on Monday. “The supply will return to normal by evening,” the official said. Metro workFollowing the shifting of drinking water pipelines to facilitate work on the Metro Rail project at Trinity Circle, water supply was affected on Sunday in Domlur, Kodihalli, Airport Road, HAL 2nd and 3rd stages, Indiranagar, Ulsoor, New Thippasandra and surrounding areas. The problem in these areas is likely to continue on Monday too till the shifting is completed, sources said.
