Twelve officials suspended

BANGALORE: Twelve officials have been suspended from service for failing to participate in the training programme conducted by the Election Commission.

According to a release, the commission had organised a training programme on April 7 for polling officials and assistant polling officials in Devanahalli and Nelamangala Assembly constituencies coming under Chickaballapur Lok Sabha constituency.

Complaint

The Deputy Commissioner of Bangalore Rural district, who is also the District Election Officer, suspended the officials under the provisions of the People’s Representation Act. He also asked the Assistant Election Officer to lodge a criminal complaint against the officials at the police stations coming under their jurisdiction.

Officials

The suspended officials are: H.B. Prakash, lecturer in Department of Collegiate Education; Doreraju, lecturer in Government Pre-University College, Thyamagondlu; B.M. Malini, lecturer, Government Pre-University College, Nelamangala; H.T. Keshava, principal, Government-aided Siddaganga Pre-university College; D.B. Sumangalamma, assistant teacher in Bailanjaneya High School, Bhairashettyhalli; S. Pankaja, assistant teacher in Basavanahalli; R. Umesh, physical education teacher in Sompura; T.A. Lakshmi Devi, assistant teacher in Shivagange, and K.R. Ramaiah, assistant teacher in CVG Rural High School in Dobbespet (all working in Nelamangala Legislative Assembly constituency); T.N. Keshavamurthy, lecturer, Department of Collegiate Education, Devanahalli; Prakash Savanur, art teacher in Government Pre-university College in Vijayapura; and Rajendrappa, second division assistant in Sub-Registrar office in Devahanahalli (all coming under Devanahalli Assembly constituency).

The heads of the organisations where the officials were working had been advised to relieve them from service, the release added.
