It is all-Tamil in Tiruchi FM from today

TIRUCHI: It will be an all-Tamil programme in the air from the FM Channel of the Tiruchi Station of All India Radio, from Sunday.

This was the felt-need of the listeners, who have been making a pertinent plea to introduce more programmes in Tamil, de-linking the Vividha Bharathi relay programmes.

The Vividha Bharathi programmes for a cumulative two hours and forty-five minutes, from 7 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. have been de-linked, facilitating the introduction of new programmes in Tamil from Sunday, according to the Station Director, All India Radio, Tiruchi, K.P. Srinivasan.

A few programmes have been either rescheduled or restructured while the duration of a few other programmes have been extended in tune with the listeners’ needs, says the Programme Executive, A. Shanmugiah.

At 6 a.m., the ‘Kadamba Malargal’ programme will air devotional songs on the topic ‘Ondru Paramporul’; and two devotional film songs.

‘Vanavil’

The hour-long ‘Vanavil’, programme from 7.02 p.m. on all days will focus on listener’s choice.

Each day has been allotted to a specified class of persons such as senior citizens; working class; children; house-makers; villagers; family members.

Another highlight of the programme is the introduction of an hour-long ‘Velli Ratham’ from 8.02 p.m. when the medieval songs will be on air.

Film songs

From 9.02 p.m. to 10.00 p.m., film songs from five films will be on air.

The programme has been christened as ‘Pancharathinam.’

Old popular numbers of Tamil films, ‘Thaalattuthae vaanam’ will be on air for an hour from 10.02 p.m.

The duration of ‘Enn Uyir thozhi’, an exclusive phone-in programme for women, has been extended by 30 minutes.

It will hereafter be on air from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Feedback

For ascertaining the feedback from listeners, an hour-long programme ‘Kattril kaditha ani vaguppu’ will be on air from 4.02 p.m.
