IIT-JEE today

New Delhi: About four lakh students from across the country will appear in the IIT Joint Entrance Examination on Sunday.

With an overall increase in the number of seats in IITs due to implementation of OBC quota and opening of new IITs, the number of aspirants studying at the prestigious institutes has gone up by nearly 80,000 this year.

“The total number of candidates for IIT-JEE is 3.98 lakh this year. They include about 63,000 in Delhi region.

There are about 6,000 seats in all the IITs, IT-BHU and ISM Dhanbad,” IIT Delhi Director Prof Surendra Prasad said. There will be 137 centres in Delhi region, he said.

Last year, about 3.2 lakh candidates had appeared in the test. The test will have no change in the question pattern from last year. — PTI
