Yatra to Vedaranyam tomorrow

TIRUCHI: The Gandhi Darshan Kendra, Chennai, has planned to take out a yatra from here to Vedaranyam to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the historical ‘Vedaranyam Salt Sathyagraha March.’ The yatra, which will be taken out in a vehicle, starts on April 13 and will culminate on April 28.

It will cover several places en route including Tiruvalarcholai, Koviladi, Tirukattupalli, Tiruvaiyar, Kandiyur, Thanjavur, Papanasam, Kumbakonam, Valangaiman, Semmangudi, Alangudi, Needamangalam, Raja Paiyan Savadi, Mannargudi, Thattankovil, Adhichapuram, Vilakudi, Tiruthuraipoondi, Thagattur and Ayakkarampulam before reaching Vedaranyam.

The participants of the yatra will conduct meetings in various places to propagate Gandhian ideals and philosophy, prohibition, and ‘Grama Rajyam.’

The yatra is being undertaken to propagate Gandhian philosophy, a press release from P.N. Srinivasan of the Gandhi Darshan Kendra has said.
