Election guide for Kollam district to be released on Monday Special class for polling officials who missed training sessions KOLLAM: Nine out of the eleven candidates contesting for the Kollam Lok Sabha seat have, till Saturday, spent Rs. 18.9 lakh for the campaign. This is as per the campaign expenditure statements they had submitted to District Election Officer A. Shajahan. The Bahujan Samaj Party candidate K.M. Jayanandan has submitted the statement for only up to April 5 and the independent candidate N. Peethambara Kurup has not submitted a statement as yet. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate P. Rajendran has so far spent Rs. 10.17 lakh for the campaign. The Congress candidate N. Peethambara Kurup has spent Rs. 3.19 lakh and the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Vayakkal Madhu has spent Rs. 3.19 lakh. Mr. Shajahan will release an election guide for Kollam district brought out by the Information and Public Relations Department at 11 a.m. on Monday. He will hand over the first copy to the secretary of the Kollam Press Club Sreejit Warrier. Disciplinary action Mr. Shajahan informed a special class would be held at the Collectorate Conference Hall at 10 a.m. on Monday for those officers who had not attended the election training class. Disciplinary action, including arrest, would be initiated against those who fail to attend the class, Mr. Shajahan informed. Meeting plannedMeanwhile, Alappuzha District Collector P. Venugopal informed that a meeting of representatives of recognised political parties from the Assembly segments of Karunagapally, Kunnathur, Kottarakara and Pathanapuram in Kollam District would be held at the Kunnathur taluk office at 2 p.m. on Monday. While the Karunagapally segment falls under the Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituency the other three segments fall under the Mavelikkara constituency .
