193 persons screened at free medical camp

TIRUCHI: A free medical camp and dental checkup was organised by the Rehabilitation Centre for Blind Women, Mannarpuram at Oolaiyur village in Manikandam panchayat in the district on Sunday.

A total of 193 persons from various villages including Oolaiyur, Mullipatti, Mekkudi, Alampatti and Mudikandam were screened during the camp. Centre honorary director Priya Theodore was present on the occasion.

Field workers and staff members of the centre made the arrangements for the camp, a press release issued here said.

The Cantonment Crime police arrested P. Periyasamy (52) on the charge of pocket picking near American Hospital here on Sunday.

He stole money from one S. Mariyappan. A case has been registered.
