Bhopal: Union Minister Arjun Singh’s daughter Veena Singh, who filed her nomination from Sidhi parliamentary constituency as an independent candidate, on Sunday said she did not consider herself as a rebel nominee. “I will never rebel either against the Congress or my own family,” she told PTI over the phone from Rewa. Ms. Veena said had she wanted to rebel against the Congress or her family, she would have taken the ticket for contesting the elections from any other political party. “There was no shortage of political parties who were willing to offer me a ticket,” she said. She said that her name was in the panel of prospective Congress nominees for both the Sidhi and Satna constituencies but she failed to get a Congress ticket. “I think I am unfortunate in that I was unable to get a Congress ticket for the elections,” she said. The Union Minister’s daughter said the decision to contest the elections as an independent from Sidhi constituency was purely a personal decision. Social service“I have been in active social service for almost 20 years and wanted to use the elections to test my standing amongst the people,” she said.- PTI
