Varun’s plea to be heard today

Legal Correspondent

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Thursday during ‘mention’ time a habeas corpus writ petition filed by Varun Gandhi of the BJP challenging the order of preventive detention under the National Security Act passed by the Uttar Pradesh government on March 29.

A three-Judge Bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Justices P. Sathasivam and A.K. Ganguly directed the petition to be included in the ‘mentioning list’ after senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi submitted in the afternoon that the petition was being filed later in the day.
