Training session held for election staff
Staff Reporter
Kakinada: The Election Commission (EC) organised a training session on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for election staff at Rangaraya Medical College auditorium here on Wednesday. Ch Ramabrahmam, an EC consultant, gave a detailed presentation of the manner of using EVMs and counting of votes, in the presence of Joint Collector K Sasidhar, DRO M Mohan Raju, RDOs G.C. Kishore Kumar and Lavanya Veni and other district officials.
Mr. Ramabrahmam suggested to the election staff to thoroughly practise operating EVMs to avoid last-minute complications as they could not experiment with EVMs after the commencement of polling. Such staff members should be given an opportunity to learn operating EVMs by trial and error method and their doubts have to be removed to prevent confusion. The EVMs are programmed to record only five votes in a minute through Control and Balloting Units. The machines, which are devised by Bharat Electronics Limited and Electronics Corporation of India Limited, cannot be tampered by miscreants.
