Church asks the faithful to vote for secular parties

Kochi: The Catholic Church, on Sunday, asked the people to vote judiciously and support those parties committed to protecting secularism and minority rights.

In a pastoral letter, which was read out in the churches in the State, the heads of the three Catholic rites said certain ideologies were threatening the constitutional rights of individuals.

“There are certain tendencies in certain northern districts of Kerala, threatening the democratic framework of our life. Voters must be vigilant about these tendencies,” the letter said. — PTI
