BJP cautions against fresh U.S. aid to Pakistan
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party has warned that the fresh aid announced by the U.S. for Pakistan meant to be used against the Taliban, the al-Qaeda and other terrorist forces, would in all likelihood be used to launch more attacks against India.
BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the past history suggests that American aid for buying arms and ammunition to help Pakistan fight terrorism had been used against this country. The Taliban and the Al-Qaeda do have the West as their target, but India had become a soft target for these forces, which are finding it more difficult to launch a major strike in the U.S. or in Europe.
India needed to watch with caution the effect of this new U.S. policy . The BJP was worried that the aid of $1.5 billion annually announced by the U.S. could be used to strengthen the very terrorist forces the Americans want Pakistan to fight and destroy.
