KKR to have four captains

KOLKATA: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) director, cricket operations, John Buchanan, on Wednesday said a novel concept of having four captains would be introduced in IPL II .

Addressing a press conference at the Eden Gardens, along with Sourav Ganguly, the Aussie named Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum and Brad Hodge apart from Ganguly as the four who would be running the show either collectively or individually as the situation demanded.

Buchanan did not elaborate on how the system would work but felt it was worth trying. He said a squad of 20 members would be travelling to South Africa to represent Knight Riders.

Ganguly said he was not disappointed by the decision and said, “John (Buchanan) is the coach of the side and he is trying to introduce a novel system. I am a player and my job is to score big and capture wickets.” — Special Correspondent.
