Southern Blues beats LRDE, registers its first win

BANGALORE: Southern Blues snatched its first win in four matches with a 2-1 verdict over LRDE in the Super Division football league fixture for the George Hoover Cup, at the football stadium here on Saturday.

LRDE took the lead in the 15th minute through Shiv Kumar. Southern Blues drew parity in the 34th minute through Arnold. Midway in the second session Suji Kumar struck the match winner.

While Southern Blues had lost all its three previous matches, albeit by narrow margins, LRDE has had a mixed run thus far having lost one, won one and drawn one.

ISRO garnered full points in the ‘A’ division league with a solitary goal win over Government Press. Suman netted the winner in the 51st minute.

Vinoo shines

Vinoo Prasad’s 114 helped Corporation Bank defeat Triton SC, Mysore by 60 runs in a KSCA Group II, second division league match in Mysore recently.

The scores: Group II, second division: Corporation Bank 212 for six in 30 overs (Vinoo Prasad 114, Pramod Kamath 32) bt Triton SC, Mysore 152 in 28.4 overs (N. Ravi Kumar 41, Paveez Pasha 37, Pramod Kamath three for 23).

BEML RC 132 in 28.5 overs (J. Arun Kumar 36, J. Nagaraja 33, Chitti Babu four for 19) lost to BEL SC 136 for three in 23.4 overs (Shakir Hussain 88 n.o.).

ADE SC 94 in 19.2 overs (Bhaskar 54, M.V. Prashanth three for 19, Manoj Turakia three for 20) lost to SBI 101 for one in 17.3 overs (Maruti Shanbal 44 n.o., Raghunanda Roy 29, T.K. Harsha 27 n.o.).

BEML RC SC 212 for six in 30 overs (Vijaya Kumar 80, Mohan Kumar 51 n.o., C. Sandeep 30, Rajendran 26, G.R. Nanda Kumar 25 n.o.) bt BSNL CC 151 in 28.4 overs (Aruna 47, Rathod 25, Thomas three for 22, Nanda Kumar three for 35).

Karnataka Govt. Secretariat CC 161 in 29.2 overs (Prashanth Shetty 55, Venkatesh three for 30) lost to CIL SC 163 for three in 26.3 overs (Raghu Kumar 56, B.S. Srinivas 41).

BHEL (EDN) SC 178 for six in 30 overs (Raghuram Reddy 49 n.o., Shiva Kumar 44, Chandrasekhar 39) lost to MPM CC, Bhadravati 182 for three in 26.5 overs (Shankar 76 n.o., Manjunath 36 n.o., Rajshekar 34).

Group II, third division: IOB SC 119 in 19.2 overs (Shylendra Babu 37, Srinivasa Murthy 25, M.R. Krishna five for 41, C.N. Govindraj three for 25) lost to ITI SC 120 for four in 21 overs (K.V. Nagaraj 30, Subramani 28).

Summer camp

The SAI South Centre will be conducting its annual summer coaching camp from April 1 in 12 disciplines: athletics, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, gymnastics, kho-kho/kabaddi, tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. While swimming will be conducted in three camps of 21 days each, badminton and tennis will be a month long camp while all the other events will be held for two months.
