Hi-tech poll campaign is high on the party agenda Chief Minister plans to undertake whirlwind tour HYDERABAD: The Congress party’s campaign for the forthcoming general elections in the State will be akin to ‘all things to all people’. The party is all set to hold road shows, public meetings, involve film actors, adopt state-of-art technology to undertake internet-based campaign besides roping in the folklore artistes to garner votes. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and the APCC president D. Srinivas will spearhead the campaign. Dr. Reddy plans to undertake whirlwind tour preferring road shows covering a minimum of 160 Assembly constituencies from March 25. The APCC chief is keen on holding meetings at the district level. The campaign will be studded by glamour with the presence of actors like Jayasudha, Jeevitha, Dr. Rajasekhar, Giri Babu, Srihari, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, Narasimha Raju and ‘Karunamayudu’ fame Vijaychander. “Film crazy public is sure to lap up every moment of the campaign. These actors will cover constituencies where Dr. Reddy may not visit due to tight schedule,” APCC general secretary Ambati Ramababu, who is coordinating campaign by film stars, told The Hindu. Efforts are on to see that actors Akkineni Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu and Krishna make an appeal to their fans to back the Congress. Hi-tech poll campaign is high on the party agenda. The IT Cell chairman of APCC, Bhamidipati Rama Murthy, pointed out that 15 SMS messages and a couple of voice SMS messages of senior leaders projecting a positive image of Congress government’s work would be sent to the mobile users. The highlight of the campaign is a dedicated website www.jaihoapcong.com that will give an insight into the achievements of the Congress government. “The website will give the voters a choice to take a look at the five-year rule of Dr. Reddy and leave the final decision to the people,” he pointed out. Folklore artistesFolklore artistes and their troupes would extensively tour constituencies “They will also perform at major public meetings ,” said APCC general secretary Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar.
