JNU committee on rustication submits report
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A five-member committee set up by Jawaharlal Nehru University Vice-Chancellor B.B. Bhattacharya to address the issue of rustication of five students from the university submitted its report to the Administration on Monday.
“We have received the report. The Vice-Chancellor is out of town. We will collectively decide on the matter once he returns,” said a JNU official.
The University had rusticated five students — Sandeep Singh, Shephalika Shekhar, Mobeen Alam, Roshan Kishore and Renu Singh — for physically stopping sale of the admission prospectus on the campus.
The JNU students’ union launched a hunger strike on the campus in protest. The strike was called off last week on an appeal by the teachers.
