‘Keep ban on plastic bags in abeyance’

NEW DELHI: The Confederation of All-India Traders has demanded appointment of a committee of senior government officials and representatives of all stakeholders to consider how the recently imposed ban on plastic bags in the Capital can be implemented without affecting the livelihood of people.

The CAIT secretary-general ,Praveen Khandelwal , said till the committee submitted its report, the ban should be kept in abeyance, for “there is need to develop sustainable alternatives to plastic bags that are available in sufficient quantities and at economical prices”.
