U.P. DGP told to report on businessman case
New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday sought a response from the police chief of Uttar Pradesh on the alleged attack on a businessman who had lodged an FIR against gangster Brijesh Singh despite a direction by the court to provide security to him.
“Let a report be called from Director General Police, Uttar Pradesh, as to what protection was provided to the complainant and also to report about the alleged attack on him despite a direction to provide security cover to him,” Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja said. The court’s order came on an application by the Special Cell of Delhi police, stating that the complainant was attacked by several persons at Lanka area in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on the intervening night of March 1 and 2.
“The complainant, who received gun shot injuries, was admitted to S P G Government Hospital at Varanasi in a serious condition,” the Delhi Police said, adding the incident took place despite a direction by the court to U.P. police to provide adequate security to him on November 15, last year.
