BANGALORE: Parents, who have been agitating against the increase in fee announced by the Deccan International School (DIS) in Padmanabhanagar, on Monday, again demanded the management to reconsider its decision. Nearly 100 parents met school principal Geetha Subramanyam on Monday to discuss the issue. “However, we were told that the fee hike would not be rolled back,” a parent said, who pointed out that the increase was not justified at a time when jobs and a steady income are under threat. On Saturday, nearly 800 parents gathered to stage a rasta roko outside the school hoping to get the attention of the management that has raised student’s annual fees by 40 per cent. RevisionAfter the fee revision, parents are expected to pay over Rs. 500 more every month, as the annual fee has been increased from anywhere between Rs. 6,000 and Rs. 8,000. The school issued a notice to parents on February 27 saying that if they did not apply for the Transfer Certificate by March 2, they would have to pay about Rs. 16,000 as fees of the first term, a parent said. Despite repeated attempts by The Hindu, management representatives were unavailable for comments.
