CET dates to change?

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is contemplating changing the dates of the Common Entrance Test (CET) for professional courses as the examination schedule clashes with the second phase of the elections to the Lok Sabha in the State.

As per the Lok Sabha elections schedule, the second phase of elections to 11 Parliamentary constituencies will be held on April 30, the date on which the CET for physics and chemistry subjects is scheduled.

The KEA had scheduled two-day CET on April 29 and 30.

Arvind Limbavali, Minister for Higher Education, said that he would consult KEA officials on Tuesday and decide on whether the CET dates needed to be changed.

Meeting

S.G. Hegde, Commissioner of Department of Pre-University Education and Special Officer of CET, also maintained that a decision could be taken only after the meeting on Tuesday.

Sources in KEA, however, ruled out the possibility of conducting the CET on one day.

It was after two years that KEA announced that CET 2009 will be conducted in four sessions over two days.
