Uncertainty over Chintamani MLA joining BJP BJP State Election Committee to meet tomorrow BANGALORE: Congress MLA for Channapatna and cine actor C.P. Yogeshwar is likely to be fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party as its candidate from the Bangalore Rural parliamentary constituency. According to sources in the BJP, consultations in this regard are being held by the party leaders with the three-time MLA, who has shown interest in joining the party. Mr. Yogeshwar’s reported outbursts against Congress leader D. K. Shivakumar is being interpreted in political circles as an indication that he is preparing to cross over to the BJP. Mr. Yogeshwar, who is also into real estate business, has been elected to the State Assembly from Channapatna for three consecutive times from 1998. Meanwhile, party sources said that there was uncertainty over the Congress MLA for Chintamani M.C. Sudhakar joining the BJP to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Bangalore North constituency. Party sources said that he may not join the BJP. The party is also considering the name of its Malleswaram MLA Ashwathnarayana for the Bangalore North constituency. The name of independent MLC Narayanaswamy is also being considered for the Chickballapur seat. The BJP State Election Committee is meeting in Bangalore on Wednesday to finalise the names of candidates for the remaining parliamentary constituencies. The party has already announced candidates for eight seats in the first list while names of candidates for eight to ten seats candidates have been finalised and forwarded to the party’s Central Election Committee for clearance.
