Key official of Maytas quits

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: K. Thiagarajan, Chief Executive Officer of Maytas Properties, promoted by the family of B. Ramalinga Raju, former chairman of Satyam Computer Services, on Sunday reportedly put in his papers.

Maytas Properties drew widespread attention following the abortive bid by Satyam Computer Services to acquire it for US $ 1.3 billion. Mr. Thiagarajan was said to be very close to Mr. Raju and was the brain behind the company’s expansion plans that include work on three IT Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and residential projects in them.

Confirming his resignation, company sources said it was a blow for it. Earlier, Mr. Thiagarajan held senior positions in Satyam Computer Services including director and senior vice-president looking after strategy and planning. He was also president Satyam Educational Services and left the Satyam Group for a while before coming back to head the real estate company floated by Mr. Raju’s family.
