NEW DELHI: The Press Council of India has asked all publications to exercise caution while accepting advertisements on overseas employment. This advisory has been sent to all publications at the behest of the Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry in view of the complaints against misleading advertisements placed by recruiting agencies. According to the Press Council, registered recruiting agents should provide their registration certificate number while placing recruitment advertisements. Similarly, foreign employers and project exporters should indicate their permit number while inserting advertisements. Publications have also been advised to accept only advertisements that provide full contact details, a statement that no fee will be charged towards processing applications, details of the nature and number of vacancies and the salary offered for every category of job.
