THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Railways will soon throw open two new platforms at Kollam and replace the existing mechanical interlocking of signals with the modern route relay interlocking system there. As part of the works to upgrade the signals and commissioning of the platforms, non-interlocked working will be taken up at Kollam for 10 days. RestrictionsRestrictions will be enforced and trains are likely to be delayed on account of the works, says a press release. The 0353/0354 Kottayam-Kollam-Kottayam Passenger trains will be partially cancelled between Karungapally and Kollam in both directions from February 11 to 19. Instead, the 6301Venad Express towards Shoranur and the 6349 Parasuram Express towards Mangalore will be provided stoppage during the period at Sastankotta, Munrothuruthu and Perinad stations. The 6349/6350 Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Parasuram Express will have one minute stoppage at Kadakkavur on February 12 in connection with the Uthram Mahotsavam of Sree Ayanthavila Temple.
