Opposition decries delay in NREGS works

SANGAREDDY: Leaders of the TDP, TRS, CPI and CPI (M) here on Saturday demanded that National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) works should be commenced in all villages without any further delay.

At a meeting held by Andhra Pradesh Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham, Raghunandan Rao (TRS), Manikyam (TDP), Mallesh (CPI-M) and Nazar (CPI) alleged that though the government has to provide work within 15 days of submitting application, it was not taking place. They warned that the people would teach a lesson to the Congress party which was cheating them in the last four years.

The meeting passed a resolution demanding that the government hike the daily wage to Rs. 150 per day.
