Compensation released for Medak

SANGAREDDY: The Union government has released a sum of Rs. 9.2 crore as compensation for the farmers who lost their crop due to heavy rain during August and September last year. According to sources in the Agriculture Department, due to heavy rain and floods, as much as 821 hectares were affected in 19 mandals. Similarly, 22,465 hectares were affected in 16 mandals, where rain was severe. Based on proposals, the government released Rs. 33,53,566 to 1,991 farmers who lost crop in the rain in August. Joint Director (Agriculture) Chandrasekhar said the amount would be shortly distributed to the farmers.
