Pension scheme for women launched

SHG members above 60 years to benefit

Member has to deposit Re. 1 a day in her account
Government to deposit the same amount

SANGAREDDY: Minister for Secondary Education D. Rajanarasimha on Saturday launched Abhaya Hastam, an Indira Kranti Patham Pension and Insurance Scheme at Medak town.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rajanarasimha said that members of self-help groups (SHGs) who attained 60 years of age would get pension under the scheme being offered by the State government. He said if any member of the scheme had natural death, the woman’s kin would be paid Rs. 35,000 as insurance and Rs. 75,000 in case of accidental death. While members have to deposit Re. 1 a day, the government would also deposit the same amount in the account of the member. Once the member attains 60 years she would be offered pension.

Similarly, the children of the members who are studying between Class IX to Inter second year would be offered a scholarship of Rs. 1,200 per annum.

In another series of programmes held at Mulugu and Wargal mandals, Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy inaugurated 33/11 KV sub-station at Nemtur village. Similarly, she also inaugurated road and buildings guest house at Warangal constructed at a cost of Rs. 36 lakh.
