Support to TDP encouraging, says Ashok

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: TDP Polit Bureau member P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju has claimed “good support” to the party from people and exuded confidence that the party would win all the nine Assembly seats in the district if cadres and leaders worked with dedication.

Addressing party men at the general body meeting on Saturday, Mr. Ashok said that the support base to the party was found intact during the ‘Mee Kosam Jana Chaitanya Yatra’ of party president N. Chandrababu Naidu recently.

Criticising the Congress government, he said that development and welfare activities were badly crippled and corruption at every level increased during the last four years and nine months. He said that the success of TDP depended if only the leaders buried self-interests and called upon them to work with unity.

Denies charge

Refuting allegations of Botcha Satyanarayana, Minister for Housing, that he allotted land to Maharajah’s Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) during the TDP rule in the town at throwaway price, the former minister said that it was done after receiving Rs.5 crore as deposit for the land and there was no personal interest involved in it. Y. Ramana Murty, district president, former MLAs and others spoke.
