Non-bailable warrant against BSP Minister
Rae Bareli: In yet another setback to the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh, a local court on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant against the party’s State President and Cabinet Minister Swami Prasad Maurya in connection with a 22-year-old attempt to murder case.
Issuing the warrant, Judicial Magistrate (I) Deepa Rai also rejected an application moved by him through the district administration seeking dismissal of the case. Turning down the Minister’s request, the court observed that the case was of serious nature and hence cannot be dsimissed. The case was lodged against Maurya in 1987, when he was in the Lok Dal. – PTI
