Turn words into action, Antony tells Pakistan
Staff Reporter
PALAKKAD (Kerala): Defence Minister A.K. Antony on Sunday asked the Pakistan government to “act against terrorism instead of [making] mere promises on India’s demand for stern action against the terrorists operating from that country.”
Pakistan had made promises that it would take action against those who, operating from its soil, were behind the Mumbai attacks. But these were not translated into action, Mr. Antony told journalists at the foundation-laying ceremony for a BEML project at Kanjikode near here.
Sri Lankan issue
On the Sri Lankan issue, he said: “India wanted a political solution to the problem in Sri Lanka. That is why India has sent its Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon to that country. He is holding discussions with the government in Sri Lanka and a peaceful solution is being pursued. India feels that the ultimate solution is to find a political solution.”
