NICE TIME: Upper Anicut, teeming with people, both young and old.

TIRUCHI: A large number of tourists and Tiruchiites thronged the tourist spot of Mukkombu near here on the occasion of ‘Kaanum Pongal’ on Friday.

Men, women and children, who had come down from various parts of the district and from the neighbouring districts, exchanged Pongal greetings.

Unlike the previous occasions, when the Upper Anicut remained dry, the flow of waters in abundance brought cheers to the milling crowd. Many of them were seen preparing the food for the entire family as part of their happy stay at the anicut.

Mukkombu, with its tourism potential accounts for an amusement park delighting both the young and the old. The park wore a festive look, providing yet another attraction to the visitors.

Police provided adequate bandobust.
