TIRUCHI: Rising above party affiliations, Councillors displayed a rare camaraderie on Tuesday through their enthusiastic participation in the celebrations conducted in connection with Pongal and Tamil New Year Day festivities.

The enthusiasm generated by ‘Kolam’ competitions, one for 10 women Councillors and the other for women self-help-group members, employees of noon meal centres, and sanitary workers numbering 22, on the Corporation premises whipped up the desired ambience of celebration.

The Mayor Sarubala R. Tondaiman honoured the first three winners in each category with prizes in the presence of the Corporation Commissioner T.T. Balsamy, the Deputy Mayor M. Ambalagan, and the zonal chairpersons Jerome Arockiaraj, Arivudainambi, Kumaresan and Balamurugan.
