Women’s top seeds make the grade

VISAKHAPATNAM: The top four in the women’s section last year — holder Maharashtra, runner-up Tamil Nadu, third-placed Hyderabad and No. 4 Bihar — moved into the inter-State event semifinals of the 38th senior National carrom championships at the Swarna Bharati indoor stadium here on Tuesday.

The results: Women’s quarterfinals: Maharashtra bt Andhra 3-0; ; Bihar bt Chandigarh 2-1; Hyderabad bt Bengal 2-1 ; Tamil Nadu bt Uttar Pradesh 3-0. — Special Correspondent
