Vinayak makes main draw

HYDERABAD: Kaza Vinayak Sarma has made it to the main draw of the Australian Open junior championships boys’ singles event to be held at Melbourne in the last week of January.

Prior to the Grand Slam event, he will also take part in the Optus Nottinghill international tournament from January 16 to 23. The 17-year-old native of Visakhapatnam is currently ranked 79th on the International Tennis Federation’s junior listings.

Vinayak has been coached by V. Govinda Rao (Gopi), Nandan Bal and Aditya Sachdeva, the last named training him at Siri Fort, New Delhi, where world No. 2 Yuki Bhambri practises. — Special Correspondent
