Utensils given to 15 farmers

Staff Reporter

As part of Farmers’ Day in Pudukottai district

PUDUKOTTAI: A group of 15 farmers of Vadavalam, Kammankadu and Rayaarkaduwere were honoured with a dhoti, towel, a few stainless steel utensils each, as part of Farmers’ Day or Pongal celebrations organised under the auspices of the Sri Thilagavathiar Tiruvarurl Adheenam here recently.

Identification of these farmers is more interesting than the event itself. A team of persons led by Dayananda Chandrasekara Swamigal of the Adheenam, went around a number of villages in parts of the district. “We identified 15 farmers toiling under the scorching sun,” said Sri Dayananda Chandrasekaran.

He honoured them with the utensils and other mementos, amidst cheers by the audience.

Representatives of different organisations who were present, offered their felicitation to the farmers on the occasion.
