PDS rice seized, two held

KRISHNAGIRI: Two persons were arrested and about 1.9 tonne rice meant for public distribution was seized from them in Hosur and Kaveripattinam recently.

On a specific information received by the District Supply Officer regarding hoarding of ration rice in a house at Avvai Nagar in Hosur, a special police team in charge of Food and Civil Supplies found that nine bags of rice (450 kg) hoarded and arrested Prakash. In Kaveripattinam, a special squad headed by the Special Tahsildhar Thirugnanasambandam and Revenue Inspector Samraj found 1,450 kg of ration rice in 29 bags.

They arrested Thirumal in this connection.

If anybody found hoarding or smuggling, stern action will be taken against them, according to press release issued by the DIPR.
