Dindigul geared up to celebrate Pongal

DINDIGUL: People in rural and urban areas of the district had made elaborate arrangements to celebrate Pongal in a grand manner. People would congregate in public places and prepare Pongal to establish harmony, brotherhood and cooperation, said Collector R. Vasuki here on Monday.

Representatives of local bodies and government officials had been asked to decorate the function venues with festoons and keep public places clean and tidy. Various competitions meant for young women and men would be held to bring out their talents on the festival day. Commercial complexes, government buildings and roads will be adorned with colourful lights.
