Stir withdrawn ‘under protest’

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Truck, Mini-Truck, Local Lorry and Lorry Owners Coordination Committee in a release on Monday said that they are withdrawing the strike but under protest.

The members said that specific issues raised by them during the course of the strike are yet to be resolved, a release said.

Issues like handing over Kukatpally truck parking area to private developers and other issues like local lorry permits, relaxation of timing restrictions on the movement of mini trucks plying in twin cities still persists, the members of the association said. Following the decision to call off the strike by central transporters’ associations, the lorry associations of Hyderabad are also calling off the strike but under protest, the members said.

If the issues raised during the protests are not resolved soon, a protest meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Lorry Owners will be held shortly, the members said.
