KOCHI: Continuing violence at Thathapilly near Paravoor claimed yet another life on Monday. Rajeesh, 34, of Vayalupadam in Thathappilly, who was injured in Sunday’s clashes, succumbed to his injuries at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital. Narcotics gangC.R. Ratheesh, a DYFI activist was killed in the early hours of Sunday, reportedly by goons engaged by a narcotics gang in the area. A six-member gang armed with iron rods and swords attacked Ratheesh and Sumod, another DYFI activist, on Saturday midnight killing the former. In, what is suspected, to be a retaliatory strike a group attacked Rajeesh, suspected to be involved in the attack on Ratheesh, on Sunday afternoon. Rajeesh, who was inflicted with serious injuries, was rushed to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday, it is learnt. Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Aluva P.N. Unniraja has arrested one Smith in connection with the murder of Ratheesh. Vehicle seizedThe police have also seized a vehicle used by the suspected goons. Another three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Rajeesh. The arrested were identified by the police as P.D. Sudheer, P.P. Ajith, and Fazaludeen.
