NEW DELHI: Ajeet’s goal earned a crucial victory for Garhwal Heroes in its Group ‘A’ preliminary league match against Ahbab Club in the Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) annual senior division open clubs’ championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday. After a barren first half, Ajeet scored the all-important goal in the 50th minute when he placed home a cross sent in Gaimlung Kamei from the right. With three points from this match, Garhwal has six from four outings while Ahbab has nine from four. In a Group ‘B’ encounter, Shastri Club held Indian Air Force (Palam) 1-1. IAF took the lead in the 11th minute through Vijay Kumar, while Emanuel netted the equaliser for Shastri in the 81st minute. After six games each, Shastri has seven points and IAF one. — Sports Reporter
