Srivardhan puts Mani HSS in final

Coimbatore: The in-form G. Srivardhan struck an unbeaten 88 as Mani Higher Secondary School defeated Suburban HSS by 94 runs and entered the final of the CDCA under-16 inter-school cricket tournament for the T.S.S. & Co. Trophy here on Monday.

The scores: Semifinals: Mani HSS 175 for four in 25 overs (G. Srivardhan 88 n.o.) bt Suburban HSS 81 in 16.5 overs.

Praveen makes merry

Praveen Edward hit 95 in Coimbatore Friends Cricket Club’s three-wicket win over Sir Robert Stanes Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-CDCA second division league for the Unidriveline Trophy at the PSG Tech grounds on Sunday.

Earlier, Jayakumar took five for 31 and Saravanan four for 27 as Tirupur Textiles Cricket Club scored a nine-wicket win over ABT Cricket Club.

The scores:

Second division: Best VP XI CC 184 in 48 overs (Sathish Kumar 65, S. Mayurnath four for 35) lost to Arumugam XI Patriots CC 185 for seven in 38 overs (R. Arun 75).

Sir Robert Stanes 258 for eight in 50 overs (Rasakutty 75, Niket Lulla four for 46) lost to Coimbatore Friends CC 264 for seven in 45.3 overs (Praveen Edward 95, Vivek 44).

ABT CC 114 in 26.1 overs (Jayakumar five for 31, Saravanan four for 27) lost to Tirupur Textiles CC 115 for one in 11.2 overs (K. Ganesh 50, Jayakumar 41).

Third division (Servall Trophy): R.S. Puram CC 140 in 44 overs lost to Senthil Srinivasan MC 141 for three in 28.4 overs.

Fourth division (Tirupur Textiles Trophy):

CIT CC 152 in 46 overs lost to Miracle CC 155 for two in 29 overs (Principal Singh 63, Francis Nelson 49).

Sivaprakash scalps five

R. Sivaprakash’s five for 25 helped TUG Cricket Club score an 89-run win over Liberty Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-SDCA first division league at the Neelambal HSS grounds at Salem on Sunday.

The scores:

First division: TUG CC 209 for five in 43 overs (R. Mohan 54 n.o.) bt Liberty CC 120 in 43 overs (R. Sivaprakash five for 25).

Venkatramana CC 120 in 45 overs lost to Students Seniors CC 121 for seven in 26.3 overs.

Kasturi Pillai SC 221 for nine in 42 overs (Saravanan 53) bt Davaram SC 150 in 42 overs (Goutham Raj 75).

Third division:

Salem CC 178 in 45 overs lost to Premier CC 179 for eight in 36.1 overs (Sasikumar 44 n.o.).

NLC BHSS wins title

NLC BHSS (Neyveli) beat RSK (Tiruchi) 3-0 and emerged champion in the State-level schools football tournament for the TFA Kittu Trophy at the Adhiyamaan Engineering College grounds at Krishnagiri on Sunday.

YMCA BHSS (Chennai) edged out Green Valley MHSS (Udhagamandalam) 2-1 for the third position.

Mangalore posts win

Mangalore rallied to beat host Bharathidasan 18-29, 29-25, 29-26 in a semifinal league encounter of the all-India inter-University ball badminton tournament for women in Tiruchi on Monday.
