Hasku, Shilpa take honours

BANGALORE: Yarid Hasku of Ethiopia emerged as champion in the men’s section while Shilpa Narayan took the women’s title in the second Bangalore midnight marathon, organised by Rotary Bangalore IT corridor and Crossover Sports, here on Saturday and Sunday. Hasku clocked three hours 19 minutes while Shilpa won in four hours 15 minutes.

Ethiopians also won the half-marathon for men and women. Ermiyas Negatu was the winner in the men’s section, while Elsay Sisay topped the women’s category.

The results: Marathon: Men: 1. Yarid Hasku (Ethiopia, 3 hrs, 19 mins); 2. Vikas Kumar Kasana (3:43); 3. Honda Yasuhiro, (Jpn, 4:06).

Women: 1. Shilpa Narayan (4:15); 2. Amrita Mitra (4: 27).

Half-marathon: Men: 1. Ermiyas Negatu (Ethiopia, 1:05); 2. Nagendra Rao (1.07); 3. Lidtu Tekelu (Ethiopia, 1:08).

Women: 1. Elsay Sisay (Ethiopia, 1:25); 2. Yamini Upadhyay (2:05); 3. Meher D’Mello (2: 09).
