Kumki elephants to be deployed

Coimbatore: With a view to combating increasing incidents of wild elephants straying into human habitations in and around Thadagam and Kanuvai areas, the Forest Department has roped in the services of kumki elephants.

A kumki from the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary has already been brought to the Thadagam area. Another one was being brought from the Kozhikamudhi elephant camp of the Forest Department near Top Slip in Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, sources said. — Staff Reporter
