Two convicted in ACB case

HYDERABAD: The Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad, has convicted S. Radha Krishna Murthy, former superintendent, and K. Ramakrishna Rao, former senior assistant in Dummugudem Project Chief Engineer’s office, Division-I, in Khammam district, and sentenced them to six months rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.500. In default, they are to suffer a month’s simple imprisonment for the offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
An ACB release said the judge further sentenced the two to one year rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.500 for the offence under Section 13(1) (d) read with 13 (2) of the Act. In default, they are to suffer a month’s simple imprisonment. Both the sentences are to run concurrently. The two officers were trapped on October 18, 2002, when Murthy demanded/accepted through Rao a bribe of Rs.1,500 from the complainant.
