Two die at workspot

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Two construction workers, including one working for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) project, were killed in as many accidents here on Saturday.

Rupankar Goswamy (20) from Assam died on the spot when an excavator hit him near Cauvery Arts Emporium (Karnataka).

The excavator was lifting construction material and the victim was guiding the driver. But the excavator driver lost control and the vehicle hit the worker killing him on the spot, the Cubbon Park police said.

After the accident, the driver fled the spot.

The police have seized the vehicle and are investigating the case.

In the other incident, a 20-year-old man from Mandy was found dead on the premises of an apartment under construction in Sadashivanagar.

The police identified the dead as Anuraj. He was found hanging on the premises on Sunday, the police said.

But workers at the site, under the condition of anonymity, alleged that Anuraj died after he fell from a temporary lift from the 13th floor.
