Sampigehalli police busted the racket Seven have been arrested so far Bangalore: A case in which a large number of houses under Ashraya and other schemes were sold using forged documents is likely to be handed over to Corps of Detectives (CoD) for investigation owing to its larger ramification. The Sampigehalli police busted the racket on Thursday by arresting a gang of seven members. They also recovered several fake documents from the arrested. The police will send the documents to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for verification. “We have recovered 300 blank documents with fake seals and forged signatures of senior officers of various departments,” a senior police officer of North East Division told The Hindu. Besides, a large number of fake documents related to loans and services of South Indian Bank had been recovered, the official said. The accused had forged the signatures of the revenue officer of Hombegowda Nagar, Commissioner of Yelahanka City Municipal Council, Commissioner of Rajarajeshwari City Municipal Council, Assistant Director of Town Planning of BBMP, executive engineer of the then Bangalore City Corporation, tahsildar of Bangalore South, Assistant Director of Town planning of BBMP, Golden Licence of BBMP, and the sub-registrars of Anekal and Bangalore South. SignaturesPreliminary investigation has revealed that the accused issued fake ownership documents of Ashraya houses to a large number of people in the surroundings of Agrahara Layout and Hulimangala village near Nelamangala. It has been found that the accused forged the signatures of various block development officers and tahsildars to create documents, according to an officer.
