Maharajganj: Over 600 school children in this district have been detected with serious eye ailments. The ailments were detected during School Eye Screening Performance Programme conducted by the National Rural Health Mission in the district. Chief Medical Officer of Maharajganj A K Khare said: “The health department while checking the status of 1,05,143 primary school children in 12 blocks of the district found that other than minor ailments, as many as 617 school children were detected with major eye ailments including hypermetropia, while 450 children were found having minor eye ailments and were given lenses to correct the vision.”
