Three more held in Noida rape case

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Three more persons have been arrested in connection with the criminal assault on a young MBA student by a group of young men in neighbouring Noida this past Monday. One of the accused is still at large.

“We have arrested three more persons identified as Golu Jatav, Shashi Kant alias Kalu and Omkar alias Omi. They were arrested at Amrapali Chowk in Sector 44 of Noida on Saturday morning. The mobile phones of the victim and of her boyfriend have been recovered from them,” said Senior Superintendent of Police (Noida City) Ashok Tripathi.

The 22-year-old MBA student was returning to her South Delhi residence in a Wagon-R car along with her boyfriend after shopping at The Great India Palace mall in Sector 18 of Noida when the young men on motorcycles waylaid them. They drove the car to a secluded spot and allegedly took turns to assault the girl. The victim and her boyfriend are both residents of South Delhi.

All the 11 accused are residents of Garhi Chaukhandi village in Noida.
